Toronto is divided into 25 wards, each represented by one city councillor who serves on Toronto City Council alongside the Mayor. Understanding how this system works is key to making an informed vote.
What Does a City Councillor Do?
Your city councillor represents your neighbourhood's interests at City Hall, votes on the city budget, responds to local concerns, and influences development decisions in your area.
How Wards Are Drawn
Ward boundaries are designed to create relatively equal populations while respecting natural boundaries and community identities. The current 25-ward system was established in 2018.
